Goat dairy products are a healthy alternative to cow milk. However, many people avoid its consumption due to a distinctive odor. Czech scientists are now looking for a way how to remove it, using almond flour or whey proteins
In the past, goats were referred to as “cows of the poor”.
But during the past few years, goat milk, cheese, or yogurt have become popular among people searching for a healthier lifestyle. It’s now even considered the healthiest out of all animal products.
However, goat milk has one disadvantage – a strong odor not everyone can tolerate.
But this may change very soon. Researchers from the Czech University of Life Sciences are currently looking for a way to get the distinctive scent out of goat milk.
According to CNN Prima News, they are experimenting with many additives, such as almond flour or whey protein. And the research shows that it’s the whey protein that can turn goat milk much less smelly.
“We found surprising that adding almond flour didn’t have the anticipated effect on covering the odor of goat milk. But for the samples with whey protein the intensity of the typical scent decreased significantly,” said Veronika Legarova, co-author of the research.
“The research is still being conducted and we believe that we will soon be able to offer goat dairy products to consumers who have been refusing them due to the smell.”
